Additionally, the Foundation addressed for support to the world community in the person of Rainer Graefe, Director of the Leopold-Francis Institute for constructional history and protection of the memorials of architecture, Innsbruck (Austria). As a result, it was reached the general agreement regarding the due date of the first stage of restoration works and the method of their financing. The international group of experts head by Professor Rainer Graefe, comprising the specialists of the Nizhniy Novgorod state university for architecture and construction (Professor T.P. Vinogradov, Professor A.I. Kolesov, Professor I.V. Molev, Professor E.K. Nikolskiy), developed the restoration project for the Shukhov tower-bearing near the town of Dzerzhinsk of the Nizhniy Novgorod region. The repair started at the end of December, 2007 with the financial support of the “Shukhov tower” Foundation, Mr. Sergio Sannicolo, the Italian entrepreneur, Director of “Sapa Profili S.r.l. Zabelin), and “Nizhegorodskaya firma Volgoneftehimmontazh” (Director Yu.N. Denisov). It is planned to finish the first stage of the anti-breakdown repair of the Shukhov tower on the Oka River by March 31, 2008.

4. In February, 2008 the Foundation came out with an initiative to organize the branch of the A.S. Pushkin museum of fine arts at the farmstead of Yu.S. Nechaev-Maltsov in the village of Polibino of the Lipetsk region and to include the world’s first hyperboloid construction built according to the project of V.G. Shukhov and located on the territory of the farmstead into the museum complex.
The appropriate letter was forwarded by the Foundation in the name of D.A. Medvedev, Chairman of the A.S. Pushkin museum tutorial board, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Government. At present the negotiations with representatives of the Lipetsk region administration are carried on regarding the possibility to realize such a project. The farmstead of famous Nechaev Maecenas is located not far from the Kulikovo field, near the border between Lipetsk and Tula regions. The center of the farmstead is the palace in the style of early classicism built at the end of XVIII century. Before the revolution of 1917 there was the Russia’s first museum of Kulikov battle created by S.D. Nechaev, the first historian and archaeologist of the Kulikov field. In 1971 the farmstead was announced the federal memorial of architecture protected by the state. The great Maecenas Yu.S. Nechaev-Maltsov – the person who presented the Museum of fine arts (GMII after A.S. Pushkin) in Moscow to Russia by donating the main sum for its construction (1,8 mln out of 2,6 mln Rubles) – is the most known out of the Polibino farmstead owners. The memorial tablet with the bas-relief of Yu.S. Nechaev-Maltsov is installed at the front of the GMII building which bears the name of A.S. Pushkin since 1937. The farmstead’s point of interest is the steel open-work water tower of an astonishing beauty made according to the project of V.G. Shukhov. This is the world’s first construction of a hyperboloid shape. The tower was bought out by Nechaev-Maltsov at the 1896 All-Russia industrial and art exhibition in Nizhniy Novgorod and was installed near the Nechaev palace in Polibino.
5. The installation of a monument to V.G. Shukhov in Moscow in 2008.

Gubkin RGU for oil and gas addressed a letter to Vagit Yusufovich Alekperov, President of the oil-producing company “Lukoil” with a proposal to install in Moscow a monument to Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov, the brilliant Russian engineer. This initiative was backed up by company “Lukoil”, as well as by the Russian and International Unions of Scientific and Engineering Societies. At present the monument itself is completely ready, there is a resolution of The Moscow Government about its installation and there is a hope that the opening of the monument will take place on August 28, 2008 on the day of 155th anniversary of V.G. Shukhov.
6. The preparation to hold a photo exhibition of the works of V.G. Shukhov, as the prominent photographer, together with the A.V. Shusev museum of architecture.
At present the whole photo archive of V.G. Shukhov is completely scanned thanks to the assistance and backing of the museum of architecture. The preliminary acquaintance with the materials allows concluding that the exhibition will be an event of a world’s scale. The exhibition is planned for August-September, 2008.
7. The discovery of the earlier unknown hyperboloid construction built in accordance with the typical project of V.G. Shukhov.
The hyperboloid water tower of the V.G. Shukhov’s construction was found on the territory of the former “Pobeda” sovkhoz of the Zhukovskiy area of the Kaluga region, not far from the “Park of birds”. The administration of the region together with the “Shukhov tower” Foundation and Mikhail Fyodorovich Morozov, the local Maecenas and entrepreneur, considers the further destiny of the tower, its preservation and turning into a tourist’s object.
